Maui and The Sun. Retold by Lily.

We have been learning about Narratives and retelling a story.  Read my retelling of Maui and The Sun.  Watch out for my iMovie that I am making right now!
In a dark and dusty village there lived a strong leader named Maui.  He had four brothers.  He lived in a house by the splashing sea.  Maui and his brothers were annoyed because they didn’t have enough time to hunt, go fishing and eating their food.  There village smelt damp and old.

Maui is wise because he is brilliant at making plans.  Maui is very strong like a charging bull.  Maui looks very cheerful but he is kind of mean because he has to make decision as a leader.

First Maui went to his brothers and told them if they would help him slow down the burning sun.  But his brothers thought he was crazy but Maui told them weave flax ropes, so they did.  When the flax ropes were ready they went to find the hole where the shinning sun came out.

On the way they went through a little light blue puddle that was a little bit wavy while carrying the shinning and green flax ropes.

Next his brothers jumped out and caught the sun with the smooth and green flax ropes.  When Maui and his brothers caught the shinny sun they pulled him really tight with the shiny green flax ropes.  The sun said to them “STOP! you’re killing me”! the sun was twisting and turning and trying to get out of the smooth, green flax ropes.  Maui charged at the sun like a speeding lion and exploded with his booming voice.  He yelled at the burning, hot sun and said “YOU SHOULD GO MORE SLOWLY”!!!! ....

Finally the sun slowed down.  Now Maui and his brothers have enough time to hunt and fish and eat their food.

The End.
