Room 7 Bug Houses

Room 7 Bug Houses...

We have been learning about New Zealand garden wildlife.
Bryan set us the task of planning and making bug houses.
First planned our bug house, then built and collaged them.
Next we painted them bright colours to attract the insects.  We had to cut holes in our bug houses so they could get air, light and fresh air.
Finally we are going to try them out in our own gardens at home.
We need to put food, crushed flowers and leaves, soil and dirt inside because insects like these things.

photosynthesis by Jasmin

we are learning about trees and how they grow.  If there wasn't any trees everybody wouldn't be alive right now because we breath oxygen.

Photosynthesis is when trees use sunlight, water and carbon dioxide to make sugar for themselves to eat.
Trees breath in carbon dioxide and breath out oxygen.

Cha Cha Cheetah and the Cantankerous Jupiter

Clap, clap, clipity, clap goes Cha Cha Cheetahs bonkers shoes as he twirls into his gorgeous home because he was starving! like a hungry monkey.

Cha cha cheetah looked in his ginormous fridge. He gazed around it and he spied some bright red baked beans and he gobbled them up in one gulp then he needed to do a yuck cantankerous jupiter.... he did a big one!

Cha cha cheetah went outside to get some refreshing air!
Thank goodness when he got out the stinky jupiter went away and everyone was happy..... and as for Cha Cha Cheetah, he never ate so much baked beans again.

My Litter Free Lunch Box By Marvin

This is my lunchbox. There is no litter in it. It is important to not have plastic wrap because it's bad for the environment.

Litter Free Lunches

Room 7 had a litter free lunch day today.

Our aim was to pack a lunch that had zero litter and we did a pretty good job.

We want to try and reduce the amount of trash in our landfills and look after our school environment.

We learnt that it takes a very, VERY long time for plastic to break down so instead of using plastic wrap we can use containers!

Enjoy our video and song.

Our Litter FREE Lunch Box

 Finn

My lunchbox is litter free because I used containers.

 Nevan

In my lunchbox there's no litter.

 Siena

In my lunchbox there is no litter.

Eli

It is important to reduce the amount of rubbish because plastic takes millions of years to break down.

Maia

My lunchbox has no litter because it's not good to make environment dirty and the birds could eat it.

Sasha

It's not good to have litter lunch boxes because it's not good for our environment and plastic takes millions of years to rot down.

Kate

I made my lunchbox litter free by shrinking the plastic by using containers instead of glad wrap. I made my lunch box litter free because if we put litter in our lunch box, when we are not looking, the wind could blow it to the sea and hurt fish.

Koen

I made my lunchbox litter free because plastic takes up heaps of space and it's nasty to our animals and environment.

Rita

Today is litter free lunch box day so we are reducing all the plastic. I made my radical lunchbox have it's own compartments so I don't need to glad wrap my food.

Ryder

I made my lunchbox litter free by putting some food in containers.

Jasmin

You make a litter free lunchbox by putting no rubbish in your box. This is how my Dad made my litter free lunchbox:
He didn't put any rubbish in my lunchbox.
It is bad to have a lunchbox full of litter because it is bad for our environment.

Tai

In my lunchbox it is litter free by containers and there is no plastic.
Otherwise if there was plastic it would be bad for the animals and environment.

Zephyr

I make litter free lunchbox by putting my food into separate compartments without using any evil plastic or any other evil products.

Lewcius

My lunchbox is litter free because I have no plastic.

Micheal

Some of my lunch is litter free. It is important to have a litter free lunchbox because it's good for the environment.

Imogen

In my healthy lunchbox I always have no rubbish.
How I made it litter free:
I made it litter free by putting different things into separate compartments to keep my food from getting soggy.

Kayne

I made my lunchbox litter free by putting my food into containers because I care about the environment.

Olivia

You make a litter free lunch box by putting no rubbish in it.
How my Mum made my lunch bag litter free:
I made my lunch box litter free by not using plastic and putting it into separate spaces.

Tiritiri Matangi By Room 7

Tiritiri Matangi - slideshows

On Friday we went to Tiritiri Matangi for a school trip.

First we had to arrive early to school and catch a bus.  We felt excited.  Then we walked to the boat and that was a bumpy ride.

Next we all went in small groups and walked up to the Light House.  On our walk we saw many native  birds.  We saw Tui, Kokako, Stitch Bird, Saddle Back bird, fantails and lots more.

Finally we reached the Lighthouse where we had lunch and played some games.  We felt sad when it was time to leave.  We walked down as a big group and caught the boat and bus back to school.
