Corban Art Centre BY Jasmin

On Friday we went to Corbans Art Centre for a school trip.We learnt who Corban was and that before it was an art centre it was a winery! 

It looks like a a very old factory,towering above the other buildings like a sky scraper. But inside it looks as welcoming as a warm fire.

At the art centre we made some awesome portraits.First, we mixed some colours and painted our boards,(they were made of wood) then we gave them to the hair salon people who dried them with hair dryers! 

I wonder if Corban had a good life.💜

Maths

We have been learning a new strategy.  It is called place value. It's pretty hard because you have to add numbers together. You have to use your brain a lot because you have to add two numbers together because that is how it's works.

First you add the first two numbers together and then you add the last two numbers together and then it tells you the answer. We are going to give you  an example 37 + 42 = ? 30 + 40 =70 then add the ones 7+2=9 so it =79

We both have developed a strategy! Thank you, thank you fans! Oh, no need for us to do a dance for you all! Okay, okay,  we will sign your autographs if we have to! Silence, silence, please crowd! Keep of the stage please crowd! Stop trying to annoy us people! Okay now, ahem, this is our strategy! It is used for fifths only! Here are the steps that will lead to success in fifths! Firstly, you have to get the number that you want to solve and double it! Hurrah! Then you take the last number off! And then, you show it to your teacher and say you think you have got it right!

My favourite adventure By Enzo

A week ago I did some of the Hillary trail. Our Mum dropped us off at a campsite called Craw campground. We stayed for the night. In the morning we set off for the big long walk. We started in the farm we got into the cow paddock. We started the bushy bit it was mostly down. Then we came to a river and crossed it. We walked with Wainimu lake. Finally we reached glamping.

I felt relieved.

On Tuesday I went fishing with my Mum and Dad and it was really fun.The fish was really shiny until my dad had to kill it with blood coming out because it swallowed the hook but my Dad got it out luckily.
The snapper was a gold yellow colour and I liked the colour of the fish.

Partitioning Numbers

Today we learnt how to partition numbers and then add them together!!!

It was really tricky but we stayed resilient!

The Storm By Charlotte

The dark grey clouds loomed over head.  Rain poured down like tiny fish.  The lightning shoot down like a golden arrow.  As the rain poured down lots of tiny sparks flooded out of the lightning.  The thunder BOOMED like a BIG, BIG dog from the sky.  I wonder what it would be like to be in a storm like that!

Going to America By FRANK

When I went to America it was winter. I was happy because that meant I could go snowboarding. I went there because I wanted to see my cousins. They live in Houston. 

They have a batch in Houston my cousins  names are Mark and Jacob. Mark is 9 and Jacob is 12. When I got to Houston I went snowboarding with my dad. We went down a very steep hill I tripped over. 

I got a small bruise on my left leg still hurts.

Mr  Fandango lives in Fandango forest.  

Fandango is fancy. 

He has a sparkling hat with a lot of  tassels.

Fandango has some pants as blue as the sky and they gleam when he shakes his bum.

He is always  jolly. He twists and twirl on the dance floor.

I  wonder what it would  be like in fandango land.

THE FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I made a fan!! It was very hard. Firstly,I Couldn't find the screws. Secondly, after I had found the screws, I had to watch  a stupid video that could've been waaaaaaaaaaaaay better. Finally, one little screw didn't fit. I had to do without it. Anyway, it now works perfectly. Here is a picture.

Literacy Tumble

Room 3 is learning how to tumble through our literacy activities.

We have been working hard on staying focused and using our tumble board.

How long does it take to get to school?

 Room 3 has been learning about Stem & Leaf graphs.

Today we collected data on how long it took to get to school.

 We had to record our times and then round it to the nearest minute.

 Next we ordered our information from smallest to largest.

Then we put our data onto our stem and leaf graph.

Finally we worked out the mean, median, mode and range! ... it was REALLY tricky!!!

Deep, deep down in the forest there is a wolf. He lives in a revolting burrow. He loves human flesh and hearts. He also eats rotten fish. He is very fat.
